In 1966, Marie Van Brittan Brown invented the closed circuit television security system which has come to be known as the “home security system.”

Brown was born on October 30^th, 1922 in Queens New York.  Her system allowed homeowners and business owners to view a person at the door and hear the caller’s voice at the same time.

In addition to the invention of a security system, she also invented the remote control door lock.
